BV COVID-19 Case Update

A Harvest Way Resident (The Courtyards) tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, 11/8/20 and subsequently passed away several hours later. There are currently no active COVID-19 cases on campus, but due to yesterday’s positive case each Resident on Harvest Way was tested for COVID-19 and those results are still pending.

A single case of COVID means The Courtyards is conducting outbreak response measures as follows:

  • “Window” visits and compassionate care visits only for Brook Place and Clover Ridge.
  • Compassionate care visits only for Harvest Way, pending outcome of Resident testing.
  • No beauty shop appointments.
  • No group dining or group activities (exceptions for Residents who require supervision or feeding assistance for safety).
  • No group activities.
  • Full PPE for Resident care on HWN and HWS.

The positivity rate in Lancaster County continues to rise.  As a precaution and due to the positive case in neighboring facility, the Rehabilitation Center is implementing the following precautions:

  • No visitation except for “Window” visits and in compassionate care situations.
  • No beauty shop appointments.
  • No group dining or group activities (exceptions for Residents who require supervision or feeding assistance for safety).
  • No group activities.

Holiday Gatherings

As per the CDC: As many people in the United States begin to plan for fall and winter holiday celebrations, CDC offers the following considerations to help protect individuals and their families, friends, and communities from COVID-19. These considerations are meant to supplement—not replace—any state, local, territorial, or tribal health and safety laws, rules, and regulations with which holiday gatherings must comply. When planning to host a holiday celebration, you should assess current COVID-19 levels in your community to determine whether to postpone, cancel, or limit the number of attendees.

Please view CDC guidance on holiday gatherings here.

Skilled Care Visitation Plan Update

This plan replaces the Step plan originally issued by DOH.

If the facility is experiencing an outbreak (one positive case is considered an outbreak) of COVID-19, or if the Lancaster County COVID-19 positivity rate is greater than 10%, all visitation is limited to “Window” visits only, except in compassionate care situations.

If the facility has had no new cases of COVID-19 in the past 14 days and the Lancaster County COVID-19 positivity rate is less than 10%, visitation is available as follows:

  1. All visits are scheduled in advance through Activities or Social Services Departments.
  2. Visitation hours are generally 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.
  3. The facility limits the total number of visits that occur in one day.
  4. Visits will generally be limited to 30 minutes (except in compassionate care situations).
  5. Visitors enter facility through Welcome Center, complete screening, and sign in on visitor log.
  6. Visitors are expected to wear a face covering, complete hand hygiene, and maintain physical distance from Residents and others.
  7. Residents in a “Yellow” or “Red” zone may have “Window” visits only (except in compassionate care situations).
  8. Residents in a “Green” zone may have indoor or outdoor visits:
    1. Outdoor visits are available and preferred when weather permits.
    2. Indoor visits are available in Welcome Center or other designated visitation area.
    3. In-room visits are available and prioritized for Residents who are not able to tolerate visits outside of their room.
  9. Procedure for in-room visitation:
  10. Visitor is escorted directly to the Resident’s room.
  11. Residents are limited to no more than 2 visitors at one time.
  12. If the Resident is in a shared room, the privacy curtain will remain closed.
  13. In-room visitors will receive education on infection control procedures.

Compassionate Care:

  1. Compassionate care visits are permitted in limited situations as defined by Department of Health and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid guidance.
  2. The caregiving team identifies compassionate care situations and communicates with the Resident and their representative to arrange for visitation.
  3. Compassionate care visits will occur by appointment, generally between the hours of 10:00am and 2:00pm, Monday through Friday. Exceptions to these scheduled times may occur in end-of-life situations.
  4. During the initial visit, the Caregiver will receive written education on specific safety and infection control measures.
  5. Compassionate care visits will not exceed 2 hours, and will include no more than 2 visitors at one time per Resident.
