Grey & Silver Mermaids Holiday Performace Scheduled

The Grey & Silver Mermaids, Brethren Village's aquatic swimming groups, will present their holiday show on Wednesday, January 7th at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 8th, at 7:00 p.m.; Friday, January 9th, at 7:00 p.m.; and Saturday, January 10th, at 6:00 p.m. in the Brethren Village therapy pool on the campus of BV (3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA).

This year's program will feature routines from the Grey Mermaids who perform synchronized movement and from the Silver Mermaids who perform synchronized swimming. All will have a holiday and Christmas themed music and routine. The group begins practice in January for the next year's show and meets weekly to learn the routines.

Proving that good health has no age limit, the 12-member resident group first received national and international attention for its synchronized holiday swim show in 1995 when it appeared on ABC's Good Morning America and other network news shows. Overcoming the odds, the women are excited to perform for their family, friends, and community members showing that ability can far exceed age.

The Mermaids' aquatics program shows that exercise is both a fun and recreational activity offering the opportunity to socialize and energize. The group, under the direction of Bonnie Leibold, Aquatics Supervisor, performs their annual Christmas show every December in addition to local retirement communities and at the Lancaster Senior Games.
