Village Residents Make Haiti Relief Kits

In Coordination with Church World Services

Harvest Way North, a household in The Courtyards, contributed a hand to those in need… those who are 1488 miles away in Haiti!

Still suffering from the devastating effects of the January 12 earthquake that rocked the small island nation, Brethren Village Residents heard the call and responded with a thoughtful service project.

Four Residents residing in skilled nursing, spent their time and talents assembling more than 30 hygiene kits that included a towel, washcloth, comb, soap, nail clipper, toothbrush and Band-Aids. They also wrote and enclosed a personal note to accompany the kit, sharing an inspirational message and prayers from our community to theirs.

The effort was organized and led by Holly Began, Harvest Way North Household Coordinator. “Many individuals helped donate their time and money to this effort which is our way of reaching out and offering relief in their time of need,” commented Began.

The kits were then sent to a shipping facility in Maryland through Church World Services before being distributed to Haiti.
