Grey & Silver Mermaids to Present "Jazz Splash" Show

April 13-17, 2010

The Grey & Silver Mermaids, Brethren Village's aquatic swimming groups, will present their “Jazz Splash” show April 13 at 2:30 p.m., April 14 at 2:30 p.m., April 15 at 7:30 p.m., April 16 at 7:30 p.m., and April 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Brethren Village therapy pool on the campus of Brethren Village (3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA).

This year's 20th anniversary program will feature routines from the Grey Mermaids who perform synchronized movement and from the Silver Mermaids who perform synchronized swimming. Special to this year’s performance, is the inclusion of the “Aquanauts” featuring two male residents of the Village and a first-ever combined performance with staff and residents.

Proving that good health has no age limit, the resident group first received national and international attention for its synchronized holiday swim show in 1995 when it appeared on ABC's Good Morning America and other network news shows. Overcoming the odds, the residents are excited to perform for their family, friends, and community members showing that ability can far exceed age.

The aquatics program shows that exercise is both a fun and recreational activity offering the opportunity to socialize and energize. The group, under the direction of Bonnie Leibold, Aquatics Supervisor, performs annually in addition to local retirement communities and at the Lancaster Senior Games.
