Terrace Crossing Assisted Living & Memory Support Facility Take Shape
After years of thoughtful planning and the campus community pardoning our dust, Brethren Village’s transformational redevelopment effort is in the last stages of construction!
The Village’s newest addition — Terrace Crossing — is slated to add 36 assisted living apartments and 25 memory support assisted living apartments, totaling 61 new apartments for community use. Terrace Crossing, opening in fall 2010, will be located in the former healthcare center and is currently under construction.
This spring, demolition and major construction of the interior HVAC, rough plumbing and electrical work on each floor will be completed. The façade of the existing building will also receive a facelift, and will look dramatically different by fall.
Assisted living apartments will range from 500 – 928 square feet with one bedroom, one bedroom suites and two bedroom suites all with personal full baths and kitchenettes. Memory support assisted living apartments will range from 280–422 square feet in a private suite with personal full baths.
Common area highlights within Terrace Crossing include a beauty shop, solarium, medical examination area, 26-seat theatre room, billiards room, Snoezelen room in memory support and two impressive outdoor courtyards.
The memory support area of Terrace Crossing will have secured access and will accommodate the needs of Residents with memory impairment— fostering the continued independence of Residents who require varying amount of assistance with their activities of daily living.
The first floor of Terrace Crossing will also be home to the Accounting Department, and Human Resources Department will also house an extensive fitness room, aerobics room and locker room for Resident use. After the support functions move to Terrace Crossing in late summer, Brubaker Manor is expected to be taken out of service in the fall.
Last year marked the completion of Phase 1 & Phase 2 of the redevelopment effort as Covenant Crossing at Brethren Village opened in January and the Welcome Center with the 225-seat Wolfe Auditorium opened in August. The Courtyards — our new healthcare center featuring 78 private living units and 42 shared private living units — is now home to 120 Residents since October.
The Village still remains on schedule and within budget in all construction aspects of our transformational redevelopment.
