In recent years, Brethren Village Retirement Community has been recipients of both regional and national awards in their service to the elderly.
Most recently, the Village was recognized by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) in 2003 with the "AARP Best Employers for Workers over 50 Award" for the Village's commitment to being a champion of older workers. AARP is the leading nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization for people age 50 and over in the United States.
In 2001, Brethren Village was honored as the number 20 "Best Places to Work in PA." Organized by the Best Companies Group of Harrisburg, the Best Places to Work in PA list recognizes businesses dedicated to employee growth and satisfaction that reflects the exceptional quality of life found throughout Pennsylvania. These companies represent a snapshot of the diverse and thriving nature of Pennsylvania's economy that balances traditional manufacturing and service organizations such as the Village.
Also in 2001, Brethren Village was one of twelve companies, and the only retirement community in Pennsylvania to receive the prestigious Governor's Award for Safety Excellence presented by Mike Acker, Executive Deputy Secretary for the Department of Labor and Industry, and Melissa Magee, Safety and Labor Management Relations. The Governor's Award for Safety is a highly competitive award that recognizes employers who require a complete commitment to employee health and safety in the workplace.
